savoring moments... |

Photography has become a way for me to be truly present - to breathe in life, to experience the sacred in the everyday and in once-in-a-lifetime moments. Because every moment happens only once - whether it's the way petals are unfolding, a child's laughter, or sunlight peeking through the clouds. Each one is magical...indeed, an everyday miracle. It's like hitting the "pause" button to express gratitude amidst an otherwise crazy-busy life.
Someday, I will go to photography school...so much to learn!
And maybe one day I'll legitimately, officially take photographs for other people. "Savor Everyday Photography"?

My Equipment
spring blossoms, 2006 ~ one of my favorite photos taken with my point-and-shoot |
My early photos were taken with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot A510.
I upgraded to a DSLR in 2008, specifically a Nikon D40 - which is a nice entry-level DLSR. It's what I use to this day. I love its relatively lightweight and compact body. Instead of the kit lens, I use a prime lens (Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX) - a great multi-purpose lens.
I also use the Hoya 52 mm UV multi-coated filter, which is an inexpensive way to protect the lens.
There is definitely a lot more fancy equipment out there, and I would LOVE a macro lens, but for now I'm happy with what I have. :)
